Tickets available on Ticketmaster starting July 14th. Young expresses a desire to avoid repetitive sets, opting for deeper cuts. This tour marks his return to live performances after pandemic-related hiatus, following a surprise acoustic set and collaborations in 2022.
A Tour Through the Ages
Neil Young fans, rejoice! The iconic artist announces his first tour in four years, the “Coastal Tour.” Kicking off at the intimate Ford Theatre in Los Angeles, the journey promises rare gems from Young’s extensive catalog. With larger venues in the mix, like the Greek Theatre and Hayden Homes Amphitheater, Young is set to deliver a unique sonic experience. Discover the details below.
Unveiling the Setlist
Young plans to delve into the lesser-known corners of his repertoire, steering clear of the expected classics. In an exclusive message to Neil Young Archives patrons, he expressed a desire to avoid the monotony of revisiting the same songs. “I don’t want to come back and do the same songs again,” he shared. “I’d rather be doing these other songs I haven’t done.”
Musical Time Capsules
Among the anticipated tunes are “Song X” from the collaborative 1995 album Mirror Ball with Pearl Jam, the Trans outtake “If You Got Love,” and “Prime Of Life” from 1994’s Sleeps With Angels. Young, a two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, emphasizes the timelessness of these selections. “They’re old songs. But I wake up with them in my head every morning. They apply to my life right now and to everyone’s lives in this era.”
The “Coastal Tour” Itinerary
The tour initially focuses on the west coast, commencing with four nights at the Ford Theatre in Los Angeles. Subsequent stops include the Santa Barbara Bowl, the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles and Berkeley, and the Hayden Homes Amphitheater in Bend, Oregon. Fans can expect a sonic journey spanning six decades of Young’s prolific career.
Neil Young returns to the stage after a four-year hiatus with the “Coastal Tour,” initially spanning the West Coast. Young promises a setlist featuring hidden gems from his extensive catalog, aiming for a fresh and diverse musical experience. The tour follows Young’s sporadic live performances amid the pandemic. Stay tuned for additional dates, as the legendary artist explores lesser-known tracks, steering away from the predictable.
What Lies Ahead
According to a press release, this leg of the tour is only the beginning. More dates are slated to be announced, ensuring fans across the country get a chance to witness Neil Young’s live resurgence.
Breaking Silence on Ticket Sales
Despite Young’s reservations about the current state of touring, he chose Ticketmaster as the platform for ticket sales. Tickets for the “Coastal Tour” will be available on Ticketmaster starting Wednesday, July 14th at 10:00 a.m. local time.
A Prolific Return
Neil Young shattered his pandemic-induced hiatus earlier this year with a surprise acoustic performance for Canadian protestors. Subsequent appearances included a reunion with Stephen Stills and a memorable duet with Willie Nelson on the latter’s 90th birthday. Notably, Young also released the album All Roads Lead Home with Crazy Horse in March.
The “Coastal Tour” marks a significant chapter in Young’s storied career, promising a sonic exploration of the past and present. Stay tuned for more updates on this musical journey through the ages.
