Pink, the renowned singer-songwriter, has found herself entangled in a legal dispute with Pharrell Williams over his proposed ‘P.Inc.’ trademark. The conflict arises from the perceived similarity between Williams’ intended trademark and Pink’s established stage name. Known formally as Alecia Moore, Pink has held the ‘PINK’ trademark since 2001. According to legal filings made on her behalf, her attorneys argue that Williams’ ‘P.Inc.’ mark bears too close a resemblance to Pink’s well-established brand and could potentially undermine her business interests.
Similarities in Trademarks
The legal documents assert that Williams’ ‘P.INC’ mark is akin to Pink’s ‘PINK’ mark in sight, sound, meaning, and commercial impression. “[Williams’] P.INC Mark is similar to the PINK Marks in sight, sound, meaning and commercial impression,” the filing claims. “[Williams] and [Pink’s] goods and services are identical and/or closely related. … [Williams] is likely to market and promote its goods through the same channels of trade and to the same consumers as [Pink].”
Legal Action
Pink’s legal team has taken decisive action by formally opposing Williams’ trademark application. They have filed an opposition with the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the United States Patent and Trademark Office, seeking to prevent Williams from registering the ‘P.Inc.’ trademark. Additionally, they request any further relief deemed necessary by the board to safeguard Pink’s brand identity and business interests.
Lack of Response
As of the latest update, neither Pink’s nor Williams’ representatives have responded to requests for comment regarding the ongoing legal dispute. This silence underscores the seriousness of the matter and leaves room for speculation about the potential outcomes of the legal battle.
Another Opponent
Billboard reports that Victoria’s Secret, which has sold lingerie under the “Pink” banner since 2002, has also opposed Williams’ P.Inc. trademark. “Applicant’s mark is highly similar to, and is the phonetic equivalent of, opposer’s ‘PINK’ marks,” its filing said.

In February, Pink made headlines during a concert in Australia when a fan went into labor mid-song. She was singing her 2023 ballad ‘Our Song’ when she noticed a group “waving for help”. “Somebody’s having a baby?!” she exclaimed. “Oh my God!”
